Summer Update and WIP

Summer has been moving right along. We have been painting and drawing regularly. I now have a job at admissions as a Ringling Student Ambassador :P

Sorry, I haven't been updating my blog. It's a bit more difficult to get things scanned in regularly since everything has odd hours. Currently, I am working on my second oil painting ever. Here is the WIP, my apologies for the picture quality, it was taken with my phone.

Progress Summer Update

A lot has gone on since my last post. We finished our first mural, and are beginning to design the next. I did another drawing of my Blue-Black Planeswalker who is still nameless. I am hoping to paint him soon though. I had the opportunity to sit in a lecture the illustration academy was giving. I think I learned a ton just from a 45 min lecture on thumbnailing. These guys really know their shit. Additionally, I got to meet Jon Foster, who is one of my favorite illustrators.

Well, I have been home for a few days and decided after doing the Jace drawing that I am going to try making a few Dual Colored Planeswalkers. I also started reading Agents of Artifice and am enjoying it to far :D Anyhow, the one drawing is just of me I did randomly. The other is of the planeswalker I am designing, this is just the first sketch, right now I am working on a plain standing view. He is a Blue-Black planeswalker, if anyone has a suggestion for a name please let me know. He is going to be the cunning, intelligent, pirate-based leader type. Which contrasts Jace completely. Don't know how he would compare to Tezzeret, but I am hoping he will be all about countering. Anyhow, anyone interested in MTG and planeswalkers should pick up Agents of Artifice. Hope everyone is having a good summer and I hope my senior friends fair well in the real world.

Dropping off a few pictures. My apologies for the lack of quality they were taken with my phone.

The chess pieces were a value study was done in acrylic for Illustration, the Motorcycle I did a month ago for a perspective assignment in Illustration, and the room was done for the 2 point perspective assignment in my perspective class. If anyone is considering that class I would recommend it. The class isn't too much work and Kaplan is a good teacher. Time to get back to work!

This Summer

Most of you know, but a few of my friends and myself have been selected to do mural paintings over the summer here at Ringling. I hope to post the entire process up on here. I am really looking forward to the summer, and this project. Last I heard the plan was to have one large mural project over the first half of the summer, and smaller ones encompassing the rest of the time.

+Additionally, I should have a nice sized art dump within the next few weeks!

Was at the park sketching today before going to a local figure drawing session here. The model ended up not showing up, but I met a Ringling Illustration major from 1972ish. Was kind of cool. Anyhow, here are my bird sketches.
